Summary: This qualification is made up of theoretical and practical units related to canine health and wellbeing and maintaining dogs’ coats.

About: A short introductory qualification for learners to decide if they would like to pursue this area of study further. The qualification provides a basic introduction to dog grooming as either an owner, animal care profession or hobbyist.

Objectives: This qualification has been designed for learners who wish to learn the maintenance of several types of dog breeds and understand health and safety in a dog grooming salon.

Why Choose: On successful completion of the Level 3 Award Introduction to Dog Grooming, learners may progress onto the Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming or the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.

Entry requirements: Learners should be aged 16 or above, be working at level 2 and be comfortable around dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments.

This grooming course is for pet owners who wish to learn how to groom their own dogs or for those wishing to have a taster before committing to one of our longer courses.

On this course pet owners will be taught how to groom their pet from start to finish.

For future students this course will give them an understanding of what the longer courses involve and how they are carried out.

Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistant

enables basic skills required to work in a commercial dog grooming environment as an assistant. The Certificate is a standalone qualification.

This beginners course a pathway to perusing a professional career in dog grooming and will give you some of the skills required with plenty of hands-on experience with a wide variety of breeds.
