Learners will learn how to use a variety of equipment and increase their knowledge of grooming styles. Learners will gain knowledge of canine first aid and have an understanding of the health and wellbeing of different breeds of dog.

Learners will have an opportunity to gain competence in the dog grooming workplace. Communicating with dog owners is an essential skill that is covered in this qualification.

These qualifications have been designed for those looking to become professional dog groomers or those who already groom dogs but do not currently hold a nationally recognised qualification.

Mucky Pups Ten Day Introduction to Dog Grooming Course - £1000

 All of our courses operate at a maximum of four students to one teacher at any given time for a more intimate learning experience.

This beginner course to dog grooming is ideal for anyone looking for a career change or to learn the basic grooming skills required to maintain your pets coat. Upon completion of this ten week course you will be competent at bathing and prepping a variety of different breeds ready for their groom.

You will be given thorough training on how to bath, brush, fluff dry and detangle a coat. Nail clipping and ear cleaning modules will be covered alongside completing a basic groom.

After completing our ten day we are confident you would be able to secure a dog grooming assistant position within a company. If you enjoy this ten day taster course you can then continue your studies with us by completing our twenty or thirty day follow up course.

For the purpose of the course you will need to be at least 16 years old, be a true dog lover withpatience and the ability to problem solve in what can be challenging situations.

Upon successful completion of this course all attendees will receive our CPD accredited course certificate in Introduction to dog grooming.

As a student of Mucky Pups you will be guided through the basics of all aspects of salon management, including business set up and the Do’s and Don’ts we have learnt over the past decade of trading. As an addition to being able to thoroughly bath, clean and prepare a coat you will also have a taster of grooming and styling a coat.

Beginning of the course;

> You will be provided with the necessary course resources

> At the beginning of each day you will be briefed of the daily plan.

> On Day One you will be inducted into the salon environment as well as mandatory aspects of health and safety risk management.

Throughout the course;

> You will undertake practical commercial assistant dog grooming and basic styling training.

> You will work through the Mucky Pups course guide.

> You will be taught and prepared to be able to undertake basic assessments.

Course Times and Days:

We are very aware that most of our students will need to fit the course in alongside any existing commitments that they already have. To make our course as flexible as we can we offer morning and evening classes.

Course Length:

Ten days in length. Days and Dates to be discussed to fit student and business availability.

Course Fee: £1000

During the course you will be able to decide whether you wish to continue your studies with ourselves and you can add an additional ten or twenty days to your studies at a cost of £1000 and £2000 if you wish to become a pet stylist. Upon completing either of our twenty or thirty courses you can also pursue an OFQUAL accredited nationally recognised qualification. There will be an additional fee of £650 payable to Heavenlyz to those students wishing to sit the official examination. Alternatively you can choose to just complete the training with ourselves for our CPD accredited Introduction to Grooming course with the option to complete the qualification in the future if you so wish.

Mucky Pups Twenty Day Commercial Stylist Course- £2000 – OUR MOST POPULAR COURSE

All of our courses operate at a maximum of four students to one teacher at any given time for a more intimate learning experience.

This course syllabus has been designed to successfully teach you the skills required to become a commercial pet stylist. The course is ideal for anyone that has completed our ten day course and would like to continue or would like a complete career change.

If you are interested in training to become a dog groomer this is the course for you as it covers both level two and three in Dog grooming taught at the Level three OCN Dog Grooming Certificate standard. 

Upon successful completion of the course you will leave with enough knowledge and hands on experience to be able to practice and perfect the skills you have been taught to carve yourself out a successful career within the animal industry. Whether you would like to embark on a self employed journey working from home or join a busy commercial salon the skills taught on this course will transfer to both types of employment.

As a student of Mucky Pups you will be guided through the basics of all aspects of salonmanagement, including business set up and the Do’s and Don’ts we have learnt over the past decade of trading. As an addition to being able to thoroughly bath, clean and prepare a coat you will also learn a variety of grooms on several different coat types.

Summary: This qualification is made up of theoretical and practical units related to canine health and wellbeing and maintaining dogs’ coats.

About: A short introductory qualification for learners to decide if they would like to pursue this area of study further. The qualification provides a basic introduction to dog grooming as either an owner, animal care profession or hobbyist.

Objectives: This qualification has been designed for learners who wish to learn the maintenance of several types of dog breeds and understand health and safety in a dog grooming salon.

Why Choose: On successful completion of the Level 3 Award Introduction to Dog Grooming, learners may progress onto the Level 3 Certificate in Dog Grooming or the Level 3 Diploma in Dog Grooming.

Entry requirements: Learners should be aged 16 or above, be working at level 2 and be comfortable around dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments.
